Usually compared to a motorcycle, a road legal quad bike definitely has more exciting and powerful features than that of a conventional motorbike. They may be similar to the way they are driven, but the stability and functionality offered by quad bikes are truly worth recognizing.

Quad bikes are four-wheel vehicles operated like a motorcycle. The rider straddles the seat and uses the handlebar for steering. The rider may shift weight around the bike for efficient maneuvering especially in risky terrain.

These work on low-pressure tires with a firm tread pattern and a tough, rugged suspension system. The vehicle can handle large bumps and sharp impacts therefore providing the rider with stability and control. Quad bikes’ engine sizes range from 49cc to 1000 cc.

Quad bikes are popular among outdoors-men because they have a variety of uses. The are generally classified into two types – those for sports and recreation, and those for utility and service. With their spacious storage compartment and ability to traverse difficult terrains, quad bikes are ideal for camping, hunting and fishing. Quads are also used as a form of recreation wherein quad bike races are help at motocross tracks.

Aside from the utility range and the sports range, quad bikes may also be classified into off road and road legal types. Basically, quad bikes are intended for off-road use, mainly on private land. But because of the people’s intensifying interest, quad bikes are now being allowed in some countries to be used on public roads.

However, since it will be considered as a motor vehicle, modifications are necessary in order for the quad bike to meet the motor vehicle standards required by law. Compliance with construction, insurance, tax, and license are some of the legalities that must be observed for road legal quad bikes.

Quad bikes may also be classified according to the user. In most cases, individuals under the age of 16 are not allowed to operate a four-wheeler. But since there are a variety of quad bikes available, some quads may be appropriate for children. The general rule would be for a 110cc quad and above to be driven those 16 or older, quads with 70cc to 110cc can be used by 12-16 year olds, while bikes under 70cc are considered children’s quads and are suitable for 6-year olds and above. There are also special miniature quad bikes created specifically for children’s use.
